Nissan Arena Turns 2!

Nissan Arena Turns 2!

Nissan Arena has celebrated another significant milestone as the country’s premier indoor sporting facility reached its second birthday!

Officially opened in 2019 by The Hon. Annastacia Palaszcuk MP, Premier of Queensland, Nissan Arena has cemented itself as both the home of netball in Queensland and a leading multisport venue, all within two years.

Despite the challenges of a COVID interrupted 2020 Nissan Arena continued to grow from strength to strength, with year 2 representing an outstanding period of patronage as 183,000 people passed through the doors across 70 separate events.

The highlight was undoubtedly the relocation of Suncorp Super Netball to Queensland on the eve of the 2020 season, with Nissan Arena going on to host 34 games, including the Grand Final, in the most exciting campaign since the competition’s inception in 2017.

In total, Nissan Arena has now seen just short of 390,000 people utilise the venue.

Nissan Arena General Manager, Ben Mannion, said the venue is the envy of its peers.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a world leading venue like Nissan Arena right on our doorstep here in Brisbane,” Mannion said.

“The ability to host wide ranging events from Suncorp Super Netball and the National Basketball League, to social sport including netball, basketball, volleyball, futsal and badminton, and even a wide range of community functions including graduations, conferences and exhibitions is testament to both the versatility of the venue and the passion of our team.”

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of Stadium Queensland, Nissan and our various venue partners and we look forward to continuing to work together to deliver world class events for our patrons.”
