Welcome to Nissan Arena, home to Netball Queensland, the Queensland Firebirds and the Brisbane Bullets.
The venue aims to deliver diverse sport and entertainment content year round with netball as the primary tenant. Netball content alone will see over 105,000 patrons a year who will attend the venue to compete in, or experience netball.
The venue is built with a 5,000 seat main sunken show court for major events but surrounding this on the higher level is seven indoor community courts. This affords the venue spacious concourses, wide access pathways but more importantly a blank canvas for multi-purpose usage.
In addition, the venue will aim to host significant other non-netball related sports and entertainment content with further exposure to an estimated 70,000 plus patrons a year through direct venue attendance alone. The venue is configured for full broadcast requirements and scales an event opportunity range from small scale events, intimate concerts and major international indoor sport events.
A key driver is to ensure this venue is suited for all events and through this it will welcome a varied visitor base of ages, gender and generate content that will appeal to a wide range of personal interests.
The venue is located only 12.5km from the Brisbane CBD. Located on two of Brisbane’s main arterial roads (Kessels and Mains), which permits easy access to the venue and favourably supports the venue’s transport operations.
Queensland’s largest Park ’n’ Ride is adjacent to the venue which has introduced a multistorey car park to the precinct. This car park is a huge bonus for hosting events at the venue for our spectators and our hirers. With this being a highly utilised car park during the week this introduces a new exposure platform for our event portfolio to a further 250,000 commuters a year.
The venue is also part of the larger Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre precinct which attracts an average annual patronage in excess of 250,000 per year.
Stadiums Queensland (SQ) is charged with the management of major sports facilities that are declared, under Queensland Government regulations, as being venues having the capacity to stage national or international sports events, recreational or entertainment experiences.
These venues feature some of the most famous sporting and entertainment centres in Australia and in some cases the world, including: The Gabba, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, 1300SMILES Stadium, Metricon Stadium, Queensland Tennis Centre, Sleeman Sports Complex, CBUS Super Stadium and the Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre.
Netball Queensland will manage the operations of the venue on behalf of Stadiums Queensland. Netball Queensland is a unifying leader responsible for the growth, sustainability and success of Netball. Netball Queensland is a non-profit sporting organisation governed by a Board of Directors and managed by a vibrant team. We are a member organisation of Netball Australia, the national body for the sport. Our members are the affiliated netball associations from across Queensland who currently represent in excess of 300 netball clubs and over 60,000 registered players and non-playing participants.
