10 Aug Elite basketball returns to Nissan Arena with NBL Ignite Cup clash
Elite basketball is returning to Nissan Arena, with the venue set to host an NBL Ignite Cup clash between the Brisbane Bullets and the Perth Wildcats on Wednesday, November 4 from 6.30pm.
The fixture marks a welcome return of top-tier hoops to one of Brisbane’s premier indoor sporting venues and reignites the strong connection between the Bullets and Nissan Arena, which served as the club’s home court from 2019 through to 2024.
Since opening its doors, Nissan Arena has firmly established itself as Queensland’s indoor sporting heart – a venue where communities converge, seamlessly transitioning from grassroots programs and local competitions through to major national and international sporting spectacles.
That versatility, combined with a proven track record of delivering premium event experiences, has cemented Nissan Arena’s reputation as a leading destination for elite sport in Brisbane.
Basketball fans across the city will need no reminding of the venue’s basketball pedigree.
Beyond its five years as home to the Bullets, Nissan Arena has hosted a string of standout basketball events, including matches featuring the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters and FIBA Asia Cup qualifying fixtures, further reinforcing its standing as a proven host for elite basketball in Queensland.
Nissan Arena General Manager Jess Garred said the return of NBL action was an exciting moment for the venue and for Brisbane’s basketball community.
“We’re thrilled to welcome elite basketball back to Nissan Arena and to once again see the Brisbane Bullets on our floor,” Garred said.
“Nissan Arena was built to host world-class sport and entertainment, and this Ignite Cup clash against the Perth Wildcats is a fantastic opportunity for Brisbane fans to experience that big-game atmosphere all over again.
“We’re calling on all basketball fans across the city to lock in their tickets, wear their colours, and help create a true home-court advantage for the Bullets on November 4.”
Bullets Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations Will Weaver was excited about the opportunity of his team facing the Wildcats at Nissan Arena.
“This game is an opportunity for people across Brisbane to come and support us, whether they’ve watched us at Nissan Arena or across the city before, or are experiencing the Bullets for the first time,” Weaver said.
“If we do our jobs right on 4 November, we’ll give people an entertaining Wednesday night that’s completely different from anything they’ve experienced before.
“Returning to a venue our supporters know so well is exciting. It’s intimate, it creates a great atmosphere, and it gives us another opportunity to bring the game closer to our fans.”
